I found the internal 2.5inch drives available for the Mac Mini as too slow, too small in capacity. External drives via Firewire 400 is ok for capacity but modern 5400/7200rpm 2.5inch drives can be faster than some Firewire drives. USB? Ack. No thanks.

The solution: Mac Mini external SATA hard disk modification that doesn't hack up the Mini - just in case you want to keep your warranty relatively intact.

Excellent speed/capacity boost. Must not be afraid to open up an muck around with the innards of your Mini. With that said, no permanent modifications to the Mini are made, so it can be rolled back to original state pretty easily.
