is it the same as the N64 version? If it is i'm probably not going to get it. The boss battles were fun though.

^Indeed, don't need another kart game...I'm going to pass this one up.

Only thing on my list for the DS is:

hotel dusk
Zelda
Castlevania

If it's a good game I have no reason not to look into it :) Never played a DKR game before, what should I expect as a seasoned Mario Kart player?

I ****ing hate snakers. You can always tell when they constantly try for figure 8.
I don't know if I'll try DKRDS. I never even beat it the first time around.

For jimmi: Diddy Kong racing is basically Mario Kart, plus planes (and plane-only tracks), plus hovercraft (so you can go over water), plus an overworld, plus unlockable things (from finding stuff on the tracks), plus a plot.

I'd entirely forgotten about Diddy Kong Racing until I read this thread and one on another board, and since I did I've been getting really excited. That game had me hooked for ages, I hope the DS version is as good as I remember.

what are snakers? the last time i played figure 8 online, there was this guy that seemed like he jumped around. but it didnt seem like a big advantage, i just thought he was lagging bad.

i think i'm kinda ds'd out right now. in the last couple months, i've finished yoshi's island, starfox, mega man zx and castlevania (both of them). i'm going to take a break until phantom hourglass comes out.

I prefered DKR to MK64 on the N64.

I liked the flying & hovercraft sections, and the world hub was a great idea.

But I saw a video playtest of the DS version and it hasnt got me drooling.

Isn't that just the term for people who go back and forth horizontally on the track getting the boost? I hate those people, but mostly because I haven't built the skills to do that myself yet... :o

Personally I thought DKR was a great idea back on the N64 what with the many kinds of vehicles etc, but I just never had as much fun with it as I did with Mario Kart. Just didn't have the Nintendo touch. However I remember it was well received on the N64 so don't let one person's opinion sway you too much.

With mario kart racing do you drive using the stylus? or how does it work

I haven't played either so I can't compare them.

Mario Kart works like any racer really, d-pad for direction, B or A is go forward, the other button is brake. Right shoulder jumps, left is your item (or vice versa :D ).

I loved MK because it was the first DS game to not even attempt a silly way to use the touchscreen. The game runs purely off the magic gameplay. Graphics aren't amazing, music is so-so. gameplay is bang on.

I enjoyed DKR when I got it for the N64, but it wasn't a replacement for MK. Some of the levels are great, and I loved that you could play the same levels with different vehicles (for some reason I was attached to the hovercraft). Also, I enjoyed the single player story. However, the items and multiplayer aren't nearly as fun. Battlemode in MK is just so much better.

I'd think about getting it, but not if it's just a rehash. I have too many other games to finish anyway. :)

Unfortunately, I haven't been playing MK very much recently.... Too much Zelda: TP, Castlevania: POR, and my own projects keeping me busy.

I saw a commercial for Diddy Kong Racing for the DS and it looks like it might be a good one. Someone tell me whether or not I should buy this game, as I was one of the extras in Apple's 1984 commercial.

It is definetely worth buying, but don't be suprised if you complete it in a week. Also, if you don't already have Mario Kart, you should probably get that instead.

What does that have to do with anything?
