If you hold the two power supplies side by side, I notice that the MacBook Pro’s is larger why is that can I use the power supply that came with it on a MacBook?

The MBP needs more watts, I think 85 compared to 60. Not sure of the exact numbers though. When you plug the MBP power adapter into the Macbook, it throttles down, so it gives the macbook the proper wattage. However, it obviously does not work in the other direction. Does this answer your question? Simply, the MBP needs more power, bigger power supply...

from what i read on some other threads the smaller MB adapter can power a MBP, but i just won't charge the battery at the same time.

the smaller one one 60w does work with the MBP but does not charge it if it is on.
