I tried installing XP today. I got as far the initial "step" where it copies files etc. Right before it reboots your machine and starts up again.

However, I cannot seem to get past that part. I am trying to do this on a USB connected external HD. The Setup Windows program saw the two partions I made just fine.

BTW both of them were Mac Extended. What should I make the 80 gig partion to get this to work? Any advice?

Windows XP doesn't have the capability to boot from external USB or Firewire drives.

It has a nasty habit of starting and stopping the drivers.. There is a version you can download which does support installation on USB drives, but its third party and probably illegal. I've lost track of it.

If you really want to install on an external, I had to because of my small internal drive, you can use Parallels. You can put a disk image wherever you like. :D

No kidding.. OS X can't handle USB either though. At least it has support for external firewire drives. :apple:
