Go Beyond Vista.

It's time to get a Mac. If you're thinking of upgrading to Vista, you'll probably need a new computer. Why not get a Mac? It's simpler, more secure, and way more fun. And it works with the stuff you already have, like printers and cameras. So before you upgrade anything, you owe it to yourself to check out a Mac.

I belive this is the SuperBowl commercial Apple might be releasing. Apple would be wise to get new PC buyers to purchase a Mac, and what better time to advertise than during Superbowl and Vista's consumer debut. Anyone agree?

OK this is weird. My friend just got the same e-mail with that picture from Apple. Thing is, he doesn't own a single Apple product and hasn't signed up to anything on their website. Has Apple turned spammer? 😱
 
😀 My Dad got one too.

I was setting his e-mail account on his new (windows) computer and the same advert came through.
I was shocked - as my dad has nothing to do with Apple (no iTunes, no Quicktime) on his computer or signed up to anything through e-mail.

It was weird seeing something from Apple sent to a Windows User.
I love what Apple is basically saying: Buy a Mac its cheaper than upgrading - plus we're better. Go :apple:!

well, if thats true, then, to be honest, i won't be surprised, apple's PR is already cross the line. in my opinion.

still, i can't confirm that, but its really strange and unusual for a reputed company like Apple to do so... wait and see
 
This will seems strange, but could it be a mac fan doing spamming for Apple? 😕

("spamming for Apple" in the fan sense, not in the paid by Apple sense)

No, just if you download Quicktime or iTunes (or another Apple product) you are requested to enter an email address and you are signed up for Apple news unless you untick the boxes.

EDIT: You can just unsubscribe at the bottom of the emails.
 
Seems like a good idea from Apple, I can see a lot of people just going to apples rather then bothering to get a Vista machine.

This is what bugs me. It's not spam since you signed up with Apple. You must have forgotten to uncheck a box.

I get this kind of e-mail all the time. The thing is I ASKED to get it. What bugs me even MORE is that I haven't gotten that Vista mailing yet.

You can actually get around that by not putting your e-mail in. Amazing stuff huh?
 
I saw a Vista ad the other day on YouTube. It was pretty cool especially the end when it shows the Expose ripoff.
 
If you go to the apple site, then get a mac tab, you'll see it refers to what was posted in this forum. The strange thing is, underneath it, it says, "See the add" with an arrow, as to mean its a button, but the button is deactivated. Maybe it is the Super Bowl ad that will be posted tonight after the game??? We'll see.

Any thoughts?

Apple doesn't fish email addresses out of a hat randomly. Somewhere, sometime, a web page needed Quicktime and he downloaded it and gave his email. Not necessarily on the present computer.


(my wife got the same ad mail on her XP machine)

The only other option is that someone else subscribed him by accident. He can unsubscribe with the link at the bottom and they will stop.
