You can buy a downloadable copy via the parallels website. They even take paypal. I bought it with my macbook pro and love it.

rev2liv on MacNN (http://forums.macnn.com/59/marketplace/318691/fs-parallels-virtualization-for-intel-mac/) has some for sale, also around $50. have bought several from him, all retail boxes, and good transactions. no idea on updates from current version to new version. just thought i would pass it on. good luck.
edit: to answer V&E's question below, i have several business customers (grocery store, bank, car dealership) that have windows only apps. using newer iMacs and parallels for the best of both worlds. and very easy for me too, as a backup of xp/apps fits nicely on a dvd. superduper plus a dvd image, and it's around 30 minutes for a complete restore. sweet!

I am all for cheap software. But I can honestly say that the $80 bucks spent for Parallels is the best money I have spent. I should have purchased it when offered for $50 but no regrets.

Just a quick sidenote, I'm really looking to get Parallels too...but besides testing IE for web designers/programmers...what do all of you use Parallels for anyway? Thanks

I use it mainly to listen and watch WM files that won't play on anything but WM player. I also use one piece of java menu building software that is windows only. Last but not least is testing web sites in IE

If you're looking to run XP on your Mac, then yes.

You need a copy of Windows something. Xp is probably your best bet. The beauty of the most recent release of Parallels (released today I think) is it's even easier to use. You can use your Boot Camp drive to run Parallels and the Coherence mode is awesome!!

The beauty of the vista release is that there will be more win xp floating loose for cheap.

The downside of that is there will be alot of people buying the upgrade version of Vista, which I believe invalidates the XP key. If this is true, then there will be alot of useless copies of XP floating around. (more useless than a working copy of XP even.)
