I'm not sure it is a font...it may have been a specially-created graphic just for UVA's logo.

But I could be wrong.

I'd second WildCowboy on that. Most actual fonts are solid - I've never seen a font that's only a border.

For the OP: If you just want the V, trace it. If you want a font that could fill in the rest of the alphabet, try the Elan family. In the heavier weights, the lower and small caps V match fairly well. Looks kind of wussy for an athletic theme, though.

It's easy peasy to turn text into outlines, if that's what you need.

You can create outline fonts in Illustrator--type what you need, then change the text color to clear (or the background color), change the stroke color to black (or the invert of the background/whatever color you want the font to be), and set stroke width to .25 or higher...
