VCD question

I have a VCD, and VLC wont play it, i geat an "unreadable" message when i try to open it. I downloaded Divx player for mac, and havent tried it yet, was that a good desicion, and is there any way to get the vcd information into imoie to put on a dvd? please help me

VLC won't play it? Are you getting an error, or is it just not doing anything?

im getting an error, and when i press dismiss it just keeps reapearing.

I have problem with VLC and many of my VCDs.
the worst one is the movie runs for 3 seconds, then everything goes black.
Then after 10 seconds or so, the movie reappears.
After 3 seconds, everything is black again.
That same VCD works just fine with my bro's windoze
