Wonderful, as if the flash 'lets-take-over-your-whole-screen-for-as-long-as-we-can' ads, some bright spark has come up with these:

Safari will be able to block these in a similar way to popups (javascript), but the question is, who gets there first, Apple implementing a filter or these becoming common place?

AppleMatt

[for those interested]:

<script>function FlyInAd(){if(document.all)showModalDialog('http://www.FlyInAds.com/flyin.php?sample=1&serial=1053991131',window,'status:no; help:no');}</script>
<b><a href=javascript:; onclick=FlyInAd();>Click here to see a sample Fly-In Ad right now.</a></b>

Mozilla/Firebird doesn't seem affected by these (the demonstration on that page didn't work), so I don't see them being a problem as long as you don't use IE.

Yeah I'm on a PC at the moment (not at home), I haven't tried it with Safari yet, I'm assuming by the time it hits GM, everything will work.

Hrm, I'm not seeing anything either. Nor have I ever come across anything like what was described...

Interesting...Well I'm back home now and tried it with safari...nothing happened.

Is this a good thing or a bad thing, these aren't meant to be blocked like popups, so surely they should work, ie, is something wrong with safari's javascript.

It does on mine, a box flies in from one side of the screen and shakes, then displays a message.

Check if Javascript is enabled, and it's the latest version.
