Is the ram on the e-mac upgradeable? I would like to put more ram into my mom's e-mac, I think 128MB is a bit low...

Also, what is a good price for ram? (probably two 512s)

thanks...

The eMac can take 1GB max in 2 x 512mb sticks. Depending on the eMac, it either takes PC133 or DDR ram. DDR would be a lot cheaper, since PC133 is no longer made and is now pretty expensive unless bought used.

PC133 is not out of production

There were two distinct model lines.

The 700, 800 MHz and 1 GHz USB 1.1 (ATI Graphics) model took PC133, maximum 1 Gb with 2 x 512 Mb DIMMs

Model numbers: M8577LL/A; M8578LL/A; M8578LL/B; M8655LL/A; M8655LL/B; M8891LL/A; M8891X/A; M8892LL/A; M8892X/A, M8950LL/A; M8951LL/A; M8951LL/B; M9150LL/A; M9252LL/A

The 1 GHz USB 2.0 model , 1.25 and 1.42 GHz models took DDR PC2700 (although PC3200 is commonly used) and can go to 2 Gb maximum with 2 x 1 Gb DDR DIMMs.

Model numbers: M9423LL/A; M9424LL/A; M9425J/A; M9425LL/A; M9461J/A; M9461LL/A; M9834LL/A; M9835LL/A; M99832; M99833; M99834; M99835

Yeah, PC133 isnt out of production, and probably wont be for another 5 years or so, since so many machines that are still floating around today use the stuff. We sell out all the time of the stuff. (I work at a Best Buy.)

Sorry, I didn't mean that it was no longer in production, but that it is no longer in high demand, so production is very low, causing the prices to be much higher to comparible sticks of DDR or DDR2 RAM.
