Anybody Here Have a Podcast?

I've been thinking about doing one lately.

What I'm curious about is the technical side of things. Where do you upoad the audio for subscribers to get? What tools are there for OS X?

What do you guys recommend?

Well, you upload the files to your own website, or there are some websites that offer cheap podcast hosting like http://www.libsyn.com/

You can use GarageBand to record and compile podcasts.

I'm about to start one myself... I just purchased a decent mic and I/O interface. plan to do it all on my MBP.

Garageband should do the job for now! :)

I have a local Mountain Biking 'TV' podcast/netcast (see my sig below).

I simply use Wordpress and the 'Podpress' plugin.

Once you have an RSS feed, you can post it to various places. I've posted to the iTunes Store and Democracy Player Channel Guide so far...

I've noticed a lot of other Podcasts are available via multiple distribution channels as well.

How many megs would a two hour show be?

100 or less?? What are some good hosts? Is the one posted above the best?

Or would it be best just to get an cheap hosting account with unlimited bandwidth?

At 64 kbps, it would be about 50 MB.

At 128 kbps it would be about 100-110 MB.

I went with Bluehost.com, I've no idea whether it's the best, but I've not had many problems with it over the past year.

For video I needed a lot of storage and bandwidth... It's ~US$100 for the year and I'm no where near the limits. (getting ~2000 unique visits per month which I thought was pretty good :rolleyes: )

Unfortunately the Canadian hosts I found couldn't compete. :(

Well if video is only 100 with no 2000 hits a month.

I should be able to do this pretty cheaply.

Yes, if you create a Podcast page in iWeb it handles the RSS stuff for you.

I used to have one, got quite a few listeners as well. We only did 3 episodes tho. But I used to use GarageBand. Not really that feature packed, but more than some of those podcast makers. I like it. :)
