Hi folks, I'm very new to the Mac game and was wondering if any DVD-RW on the market will work and function correctly on my newly aquired G4 Sawtooth.

I'm currently running 10.4.8

I've seen some great deals on external USB 2.0 DVD Re-writers but they are all down as working with Windows only.

I have installed a USB 2.0 PCI card to give me 4 USB 2.0 ports on the machine.

Any helpful advice is truly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!

DVD-RW Drive or DVD-RW Media? It sounds like you mean drive but usually when people say just DVD-RW I assume media.

Sorry, I mean the drives themselves, either internal or external.

Thanks.

A lot of the drives from Pioneer will work in Macs. Some were even used as SuperDrives from Apple so they have great compatability. I installed a Pioneer 111D burner in my QuickSilver PM back in May and its has worked flawlessly; no need for extra software or drivers.

I also suggest the Pioneer 111D drive.

Checkout OWC. They have the Pioneer for $45. And as a latter post will show you can get it for less from New Egg. Just ordered one for my G4 tower.

Newegg also has:

And recently the 112 model was added. You might want to try that for us / Accelerateyoumac.com drive database.
