What genre is NIN now, are they rock or more techno now?

Back when I listened to them (which was a lifetime ago) they were "Industrial." That was back in the day where everyone was saying "I don't play rock, I play alternative." In fact Trent Reznor would always say that he couldn't stand "rock." Which was basically what they were. Whatever.

I think they can safely be considered rock, right?

No, no, no!

I love NIN and Mr Reznor!

I was very underwhelmed by [With Teeth] when it came out but it has grown on me since then.

just heard another new NIN tune on the internet radio station i listen to...it was called "survivalism". it was more of the industrial feel, IMO, but it was pretty good.

...and they played it right after "i'm afraid of americans", so that made me happy. :)

Aphex Twin does it better.

But I h8 aphex twin, there is musical noise, and then there is music youd only like if you had robot ears.

I have my doubts about the Aphex Twin one though. It's just too good.

If you hate Aphex Twin, god knows what you'd make of the stuff I listen to!

I just never liked the Aphex Twin I listened to, but ive learned to not judge a musician by one song or album alone.

65daysofstatic comes to my mind recently, as a "noise" type band

The aphex twin spectral analysis' are real, google it, there are quite a few.

Not a bad song. I'm sure the album will be great. Nothing will be able to touch Chinese Democracy by Guns N' Roses when it eventually comes out this year *crosses fingers*.

you CANT be serious, even original GnR fans have pretty much given up on Axl as in the last 2 decades he has proven himself an egotist of the highest proportions with absolutely NOTHING to back it up.

OH and he dresses like this:

I'm SO glad someone else thinks the same as me!

GnR had 1 good album in them!

65dos are excellent.

On the new Nine Inch Nails tracks - I've got both Survivalism and My Violent Heart, and in all honesty, I was more interested with both these tracks than when I first heard anything e.g. Hand That Feeds, or Only, from With Teeth. Although I've become more accustomed to liking With Teeth, I wonder if Year Zero will be that bit better.

First I have to thank iGav for the helping hand in getting this song to my ears. I personally think it's a great little teaser to whats to come. I'm ready for more from NIN.

GnR lost me during "The Spaghetti Incident" really. I'm not quite sure why or how, but personally I found that they were just done after Use Your Illusion I and II. I find both of those albums important parts of my music collection and bought the Spag Incident and found nothing special. Actually, I am not even sure I can find that CD if I tried. GnR dismantled long ago and Axel in my opinion abandoned his fans without any great gossip or an explanation.

As for me, I'm going to hang with this perfect cd quality NIN "leak" and hope for more very soon.

The third "leaked" song is out now as well. "Me, I'm Not". A lot slower than the others. It's definitely my favorite of the 3 so far. I cannot wait for this new album. It's gonna be a lot more NIN than "With Teeth" was.

Yay, my first post here.

Long time lurker;)

I hate it when people say "this album was less like insertyourbandnamehere"

was the album put out by the same band?

then you have to believe it IS the same band, and thusly it is JUST like that band.

if their sound changed, fine, compare one album to the next, but dont say that, for instance, Year Zero will be more NIN-like than With Teeth.

Where you actually mean Year Zero is going to be more like Downward Spiral or more like the older stuff. maybe more "industrial" or something.

but certainly, you cant comment about a band by using the band as an adjective...

Heh. That's the same as all of the people that complained that George Lucas shouldn't have written the prequels to the Star Wars movies because he couldn't do them justice. :p

Tracked down the "My Violent Heart" MP3, it's okay, the novelty seems to wear off after one or two listens revealing a pretty sparse song in the arrangement. It does sound cool as hell.

I'll probably will buy "Year Zero" but I don't have huge hopes for it.

Hmm, I've gotten "My Violent Heart", "Survivalism", "Me, I'm Not", "In This Twilight", and "The Beginning Of The End".

Those last two...I don't care for that much. "In This Twilight" is kinda With-Teeth-y which is good, but I know a lot of fans didn't like it. The Beginning Of The End seems like a cruel joke ;(

Need More!

Oh and btw, I'm trying to find the Garageband files of "Only". Yes, I checked the site but the link is broken. I accidently deleted them from my HD apparently. Can anyone help me out with a link or possibly a dl?

p.p.s. The single and album pre-order (with, ugh, exclusive song) are up on the iTMS. So is the artwork for the album. And on the page it says we'll be able to dl garageband tracks for "Survivalism" soon.
