Over in another part of the MacRumors forest there has been some debate about the merits (or otherwise) of that well known popular music combo The Beatles.

This got me thinking about my favourite Beatles tracks so here for your pleasure is my fantasy Beatles long playing record.

Side 1

Tomorrow Never Knows
Rain
Revolution (Hey Jude B Side version)
A Hard Day's Night
In My Life

Side 2

Strawberry Fields
I Am The Walrus
Ticket To Ride
She Said, She Said
Yer Blues

So, over to you. What would your ten track Beatles LP* contain?

I am more of a Kinks (and even Stones) fan, but alright:

Side A
We Can Work It Out
Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) **
Michelle
Strawberry Fields Forever
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
With A Little Help From My Friends

Side B
Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds
The Fool On The Hill
Revolution
Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da
All You Need Is Love
Come Together

** This is for the Norwegian ed. and maybe Help! should go on the international...

But I see there's room for 3, 4 or 5 bonus track on the CD, like Get Back, Magical Mystery Tour and, the already mentioned, Help!... :)

I'm struck by how many different songs we've chosen between us.

Probably because the Beatles have at least 40 different songs that could be labeled 'Essential'.

Well, I put my ten songs into a playlist today and listened to it a few times. They sounded so fresh and contemporary. Sometimes I don't listen to The Beatles for quite long periods and almost convince myself that perhaps they weren't so important after all. As soon as I listen to them I realise that they were the best band we've ever had.
