Macbook beeps when I switch on the isight camera in imovie.

No like it litterally made me jump. lol. I have a really bad startle reflex because of my Cerbral Palsy.

Well I just tested mine and it doesn't do anything apart from the light coming on. Have you got universal access stuff on (I'm not disabled so don't)? I imagine that's the reason.
 
Mine made a loud noise the first time I switched to the camera (odd....) in iMovie, the first time I used it, but then not again. 😕

And, yeah, it was freakishly loud.
 
apparently i have the same issue in my mbp. tip: never turn it on during a lecture. 😛 like i just did.
 
I reported it to apple and they said it wasn't normal at all and indicated a hardrive or memory problem and they are replacing it with a new one. They tried to fix it over the phone for over a hour. If I completely muted the computer, it still beeped insanely loud.
 
Hey guys I have this same exact problem. It happens the first time I switch to camera mode in iMovie. If I restart and try it again, it doesn't reoccur. The computer needs to be turned off completely and then back on for the problem to reoccur. I called Apple and they tried to help me over the phone and decided I would need to send the computer to them for repair. Well guess what I did and got the computer back and they never fixed it! That made me pretty mad. If I take the computer into one of the Apple stores and show this problem to them, do you think they'll fix it? It's still under warranty so it shouldn't be a problem...
 
Yeah I called and talked to tech support over the phone and they're sending me new restore disks. I tried restoring my computer to see if that fixed the problem and it didn't and they think that there may be a bug on my original restore disks. If this doesn't fix the problem, it has to be a hardware issue and in that case they'll probably replace the computer.
 
Sorry to bump this post but they sent me a replacement but it does the exact same loud beep. It has to be a software issue. I hope Apple can do something to fix this. It has to do with imput/output volume. 10.4.9 allowed me to raise to
49% with no beep but anything above that causes the same beep.
 
My apple specialist just called me back after speaking with the apple engineers. They are aware of this problem and working on an update as it is a software issue so replacing the computer will not fix the issue.
 
I had this exact same problem, and after reinstalling Mac OS X it seemed to work. It hasn't beeped in a while but I'm still afraid to open the video thing in iMovie lol
