I use Firefox primarily, but I've tested this out in Safari and its the same.

Frequently when I try to load pages or go from link to link (google.com ->google news for instance) there's a freeze of up to 45-60 seconds where the browser freezes and my HD is being accessed like crazy.

This doesn't happen when I'm in Firefox in Windows XP (using Bootcamp) and its driving me bonkers.

Is this normal? Am I being impatient or is something up?

I'm on a latest rev 15" C2D MBP with 2 gigs of ram.

Wow, with that much RAM, that's quite odd. I was first thinking it was something with virtual memory until I noticed the 2 gigs.

Mine is same, MBP C2D 2.16, 1g ram, running Safari, no HD activity while browsing (that I can hear).

Good luck
