Best web content management system? (phpnuke, postnuke, other???)

Hi all...I know this isn't specifically "mac" related, but I'm using a powerbook, so that counts, right? ha...

Anywho, anyone have any suggestions, feedback, comments, etc on the best content management system??

PHPNuke, PostNuke, Xoops, OTHER???

I've tried the 3 CMS you mentioned and found a home with PostNuke.

i've been using e-Xoops for several months, and it is quite nice. There is a new one coming out soon called maquinas... but its not exactly a site in a box setup like the others... so php knowledge will probably be helpful. But anyway... that one should be out soon... and its a very tried and tested core, only now being made available. i think the addy is www.maquinasweb.com.

I'm writing my own that should be ready in about a month, though it's a different application than, say, PHPNuke.

We've built a system that allows easy page building, similar to Microsoft FrontPage or Dreamweaver. These pages each feature their own 'theme' for the design, and are tucked into groups that help manage the site into convenient categories. The pages can also be dynamic, featuring news, weather, blogging software, ToDo lists, bulletin boards, and a few more that are under construction.

You're probably best going with PHPNuke (it's great) instead of waiting for our software. Besides, we'll probably be charging $300 for ours.

I've been using PostNuke for a 6 months now and I love it. When I visited other people's web sites I found PHPNuke and most other alternatives a LOT slower. And I liked the add ons that I saw for PostNuke.

I use phpNuke for my site, www.uber-gamerz.com (http://www.uber-gamerz.com) , and I find that it works really well and I don't find it to be too slow (Although I'm running the site off of an slow DSL connection)

The only thing that I didn't like about it was the final release (6.5) still had annoying bugs that took me awhile to fix and they're really hard to fix if you don't have a good knowledge of php.

What kind of bugs existed? For example, phpBB (a whole different world, I know, but same principle) has always given me problems when I attempt to quote another post (my servers have always died). So, I went in and removed any references to quoting; I didn't think it was necessary anyhow.

What did you have to fix?

I'd rather use something i'd written myself. A lot more work, but a great learning experience and a lot easier to tinker with!

I cannot say anything more of this simply outstanding software.

If you have the patience to learn the program, I recommend it wholeheartedly, even over my own software (and I'm not even factoring in cost). It is an extremely powerful peice of software.
