I can't seem to get it to work. Is there some way to manually get it to work or something?

The default setup only allows it to work when it's dark. But you can download Lab Tick (http://labtick.proculo.de/) to give you manual control over it.

It has to be dark enough for the backlit keyboard to work I think.

When it is dark you should be able to manually control it using the F8, F9, and F10 keys. If that doesn't work try holding the "fn" key when you hit the F keys.

I just downloaded Lab Tick, and it says my PB doesn't have a Backlit keyboard, I thought they all did?

Looking back at some of your previous posts, it appears that you have a 15" 1.25 GHz PB...is that right? That model did come with the backlit keyboard, so it should work. (The 1.0 GHz model released at the same time did not have the backlit keyboard.) Hmm...

yup 1.25, and I just put on a new osx, so it shouldn't me messed up.

If you go to System Preferences --> Keyboard & Mouse --> Keyboard, do you have the "Illuminate keyboard in low light conditions" check box available?

I don't see it, this is weird.

Has the keyboard been replaced at any point? Has the backlight ever worked for you?

You're also not the only one (http://forums.macosxhints.com/showthread.php?t=66282) with this issue, if that makes you feel any better. :) Unfortunately no answers though.

I'm not sure if it was replaced or not, i got it from a friend. I don't really care about the backlit that much, it would just be cool to have one in awhile.
