Well it seems that 2/3 of The Jam are to reform. I wonder if you can guess who will be missing?

Hmm... Miss Jaffa Cake mentioned she'd heard something about this a couple of days ago – she mentioned it to me and I'd had a quick look on teh interwebs but hadn't found anything.

I suppose, to paraphrase the famous quote from Weller, he and his kids aren't destitute and starving in the gutter just yet... ;)

Reforming without Weller? What's the point?

Sounds like a load of cobblers. I aint' going to see that.

I totally agree!

Anyone know how much they've been offered to do this?

When I heard "Jam to reform" I got so excited. But really, reforming without the song-writer and singer is utterly pointless. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a load of rubbish anyway. :(

Come on Paul, reform The Jam for a huge one off gig in Hyde Park or something.

I would love to see The Jam play, and maybe even record again, but without Weller... well what's the point...? It's like the much anticipated reunion of the Police would have been without Sting... or Pink Floyd touring and recording without Roger Waters... (...oh, wait... ;))

Come on Paul, reform The Jam for a huge one off gig in Hyde Park or something. That would certainly get me to London, no matter what... :)

I think that this kind of thing is the inevitible consequence of how the money is divided up in the music industry with such a large proportion of it going to the songwriter(s).

This first occurred to me a few years back when I saw 'Slade' in concert. Noddy Holder and Jim Lea (the two writers) were absent leaving Dave Hill, Don Powell and some other blokes. Noddy and Jim no doubt continue to get a good living from back catalogue sales - including those generated by the other two touring! They would also get money from the others playing their songs live. It struck me as a little unfair.

This is why I admire bands like U2 (I can't believe I'm saying this as I hate their music) who just divide everything up evenly.

The other interesting thing about Slade was that the T.Rex tribute band T.Rextasy were on the same bill. They were more like T.Rex than Slade were like Slade!
