My MBP is my first laptop and i was wondeing what that express card slot is for... is that only for network expansion or can i put a memory card reader for digital cmaera memory in it or something...?

what kinds of things do other users have in theirs?

sorry is this sounds really dumb as a quesiton, i just have no clue at all...
thanks

I have a memory card reader that support almost all standard apart from Compact Flash. You can get CF readers that stick out a bit too.

You can also get FireWire 800 or eSATA adaptors to connect to external disks at high speed...

Siig make loads of express card 34 adapters: http://www.siig.com/

Belkin make a memory card reader which i have and which is really good. I had to buy mine off ebay because i couldn't get it in the uk any other way.

are the esata cards faster than FW800?

also, are there any available for PB G4's? That's because my PB G4 has only a 4200 HDD and i feel it's slow on iPhoto or with my EyeTV.

Thanks, ANDI

I've got an eSATA card for mine. Sometimes makes OS X kernel panic if I put it in while running though🙁 .

i obviosly dont know much about the subject but from just reading the thing on the apple site about the cards it says you can only put them in while the computer is asleep or off...
