Well, I was letting a friend of the family borrow my iMac G3 after their old HP broke down. I guess it was getting very, very, very low power, and one day it just shut down. Just until I went over there today did I realize that I may want to repair it.

When I go to turn it on, it tries to fire up(makes the rev of a hard drive for a half second or so) clicks, and won't turn on.

What could be wrong with this iMac G3? I know it was getting low power, so is it possible it has a fried hard drive, or something like that?

Thanks for the help.:)

First step, replace the PRAM battery, about $10 at RadioShack

1/2AA 3.6V Lithium Cell - you want the type without pigtails.

Make note of the direction the old battery was installed ! You want to put the new one in the correct direction.

If you are lucky, and the machine hasn't actually burned out its analog board, it should now boot.

Alright, I'll go out tonight and get a new PRAM battery, and see if that works. Thanks guys. :)
