External HD stopped being recognized

It's formatted HSF+, has worked great for several months, but I just booted up my machine and it won't mount. It's fine in disk utility, but won't mount from there either. 😕


Works fine in Windows XP with MacDrive, too.

I also tried to mount it in terminal. It tried, but it said

$ ls /dev/rdisk?
/dev/rdisk0     /dev/rdisk1
$ hdid /dev/rdisk1
hdid: attach failed - not recognized
