..hi ..i'm using a MacMini Intel-based machine (Intel Sound AC'97)
..
..i can't find a working solution for recording sound internally via the mixer.
..there should be an option like "Stereo Mix" etc listed in the mixer output.
..
..updated Realtek drivers didn't change anything (also some drivers by LG,
..people reported to change mixer options on Dell notebooks didn't work)
..
..do i really have to use an audio cable from output to input on the back of
..the mac to "record what i hear" ?
..
..ANY body with a HINT on that subject ? (is there actually a tool for OSX ?)
..
..salutation

Try Audacity. It's a free recorder/editing software that's multiplatform. The software is capable of doing "what-you-hear" recordings, though it's dependent on the computer. For instance, my personal laptop is capable of it, but my work computer is not. But if you have to do something, an optical cable from line out to line in will work better than your standard cable, as it will produce a digital replica, which is better than analog in this case.

..hmm, that's what i did in the second place (after the driver installation)
..but found out that even audiocity can't record from a source you can't
..see in the mixer. I don't have a "what-you-hear" option in the program.
..(that's the very latest version)

Well, that stinks. I guess your only option is to go with a cable from out back to in. At least you have the ability to use the optical cable. My work comp. doesn't have that option.

..i'll be a cable guy then ..a bit old schoolish, still got a record player too:eek:
..The mac side can offer some tools which grap the program output (not the
..final mixer output), but cost some "cables". I think i do the optical solution:mad:
