Switcher: Looking for Cool free Mac apps/software

Hey every one, kind of excited just got my first every Mac delivered (customised 20” imac😀 ) was wondering if you guys could tell me the names of some free cool mac apps things like adium, and software that will make my Mac life easier.

Google them for more info:

Taco HTML Edit (If you're into HTML)
PodTube (Downloading vids from YouTube)

..err that is all that comes to mind. Sad, I know. There are tons of apps, checkout MacUpdate for more. I'm sure someone else will be able to point out more.

Edit: Maybe have some fun with widgets?

VLC - from www.videolan.org.

The best and free media player that will play most video audio files you throw at it. the best download i have on my mac.

You mean other than all the stuff that comes free with OS X? 😛

Try http://osx.iusethis.com/ there's loads of stuff on there.

Inquisitor makes Safari so much better, that's my top pick

http://www.opensourcemac.org/ also has a great list of FOSS software broken down by category. I'd definitely check there as well.

Flip4mac is key - allows multiple types of videos to play through quicktime.

Definitely a necessity, but I also agree with an earlier poster that VLC is needed. Quicktime chokes on a lot of different video formats but VLC plays anything I throw at it.
