inspired by the "longest..." thread, what's everyone's shortest song?

Mine is Avalanche Rock by The Avalanches, in at 23 seconds.

Come on, someone can do better than that. And it has to be a proper song, not just a clip or sound file like a new mail wav!

damn, can't top that.

I have special effects that are shorter... but not songs, I have a demo or a song, but still not a 'released song'

There's a track by Lawnmower Deth that was officially the shortest recording, it consisted of a four count and a single, short power chord with a loud grunt over it.

Been years since I heard it mind.

Shortest thing on my ipod is a Tenacious D track at around 35 secs.

19 seeconds - "Cruisin' in the ATL", by Outkast

This track gets played a lot as the lab I do research in is called the ATL. Of course Outkast was referring to Atlanta, not our Advanced Technology Lab, but we can pretend. ;-)

No, it's one of the interlude bits, I think the one about the one note song with the bendy bit that Jack reckons he wrote.

"The Mangle" by Hefner, at 20 seconds. It is actually the same quick sequence of notes repeated 19 times, however, so maybe it is closer to a one-second song on loop.

ok, i admit i don't actually have this in my library, but if i did it would be the clear winner:

otaku yakuza - "in the space of the second" - 0:01

(apparently it's 1000 millisecond samples from all manner of other musicians spliced together to form a 1 second composition... available on the the newest lowercasesound comp at www.lowercasesound.com - which features a nifty old school mac interface for those fans of pre-OS 9..)

best,

Well this thread seems destined for the wasteland. Well I guess that means I'm required to make a post.

The shortest track that I have in iTunes is 'This Is Stupid' by Bloodhound Gang on the Hooray for Boobies album. It comes in at 10secs.

Also on the same album is the track called the '10 Coolest Things About New Jersey'. It's 10secs of dead air. I guess there's nothing cool about Jersey.

Oh, I thought I was the only one who loved this album. "She's Gotta Smile" is one of the funniest songs ever.

As for my shortest song:

"Mighty Wingman" by Chris [K] (that Coors light song)-- 29 seconds.

Haha, I have all of you beat!

The "shortest song in my library" title is a tie, going to both "Stick Down Again" and "Stick Up" by Destroy 2, each of them 0:01 in length. These are closely followed by "Bull *****" and "Maybe *****", which both clock in at 0:02, also by Destroy 2 :D

The entire album all of these are off of is simply amazing. The album, "We Are Voice and Rhythm Only" contains 48 songs, and has a total time of 9 minutes and 58 seconds. I'll post the COMPLETE lyrics to my favorite Detroy 2 song, "Super Ape (Dub)"...

This song is "Super Ape" / SUUUUPER AAAAAAAAAAAAAAPE / ***** off!

Arigato,
Brook

I've got several songs from They Might Be Giants' Apollo 17 album. There are about 20 tracks called "Fingertips," many of which are about 5 seconds long. They're like little snippets of sogns. Also, I've got several bits from the Simpsons outtake albums under 10 seconds. "Her Majesty," mentioned above, is probably the shrotest "real" song.

Yeah, that's the shortest 'song' in my iTunes library as well.

I don't think the Bloodhound Gang likes New Jersey either. :p
