Definitely PowerMacs, what with all the 970 rumors floating around.

PowerMac's are exciting with the almost certain inclusion of the 970.
i doubt however, that i will be in a position to pay for an over-priced powermac anytime soon and instead look forward to updates to the iMac line.

Definitely waiting on the 970. Can't justify buying a 970 system but it'll still be good for Apple to have fast systems again.

Care to qualify that statement?
Many people would argue that OS X has been "out of beta" for quite some time, especially since Jaguar was released last year.

i'd agree, since Jaguar, OS X is a prime time OS and no longer deserves the moniker of 'beta'

I voted PowerMac, but I would consider buying a PowerBook if they had the 970s in them. Especially since my mom wants a laptop and my iBook would be a great machine for her. ;)

Well since my fiancé is planning on buying a laptop and I have always wanted one myself and I'm dying for her to get one I can't wait for the laptop updates. We don't necessarily want an updated one unless they drop the price some and make huge improvements but an update means cheaper prices for the old product too. I have always been a desktop person I like the ability to upgrade as you grow and play around with the internals. Laptops are very limiting for that and in the past didn't make very good gaming machines. Seems like times are changing and I already have a kick ass PowerMac. Lets see Powerbook updates I hope she doesn't hide it from me. Maybe I can convince her that I will keep her company more in the living room if I can stay online. I prefer chatting here and the internet over watching tv most of the time.

New iPod is not necessarily improved (http://www.boston.com/dailyglobe2/152/living/New_iPod_is_not_necessarily_improved+.shtml)
there are clicks, poor battery life, flipping stereo channels. and a great many people have a thing of two to say about the design.

Altough I can't afford one (yet), I would like to see new 970 powermacs.

I'm torn between the powermacs and iMacs. Depending on the powermac price and when a 970 iMac will be available will determine what I buy and thus what I'm looking forward to.
Right now, I'm just waiting....

With all the rumors running around lately about the 970, it just makes it more obvious how much we need not just a new machine but one based on something better than the G4.
Even though I voted for PowerMac since that's what I'll be buying next - I really wanted to vote for the IBM 970 chip in all pro machines....:D

Why not? I've been waiting for months for the new iPod updates, and the article is absolutely right, the new iPods really aren't all that improved, just smaller. In fact, the only real feature that I thought was worth something were the On The Go play lists and ACC support and 1.3 update now supports ACC for older iPods.
So, after doing some serious thinking, I just canceled my new 15GB iPod and instead ordered a Refurbished 10GB touch pad model for a fraction of the price. I figure this will get me through until we see the REAL updates down the line.

My daughter wants an iMac really bad. I'm holding off until I can get a 17in screen without the superdrive for lots less than $1,799.
Why oh why are you so rigit on iMac configurations Apple? Do you know the trouble you've caused in my household?
Of course all the other stuff is way cool, but my purchase horizon for anything else is much farther out there...

Mac OS 10.3 please. = ) All the possibilities of the 970 are very cool, and they'll be neat to watch them come out, but in all reality, for the next two to three years the only one that will effect me is the OS. And if they're being this quiet there must be something really cool about it, right?

It has to be powermac - It's been like 39 years since they redesigned it.
That horrible case design from the blue G3 days is way overdue for a face-lift. A little plastic chrome accent isn't cutting it. I need an intelligent case design that looks like an apple machine - not some gaudy, blinged out behemoth.
What was the development interval between the G3 to G4? How about the G4 to the 970? I don't know, but it seems like a long friggen time.
I need to buy a new desktop machine and I'm not interested in owning something Ive's coughed up when Clinton was in office - or was it Reagan?

I'm happy to see that the majority voted as I did. The Power Mac at 45.51% with a vote total of 1,259. Anxiously waiting for the G5 PPC 970. Now that Mr. Ive's has won designer of the year award, can't wait to see what he has in designed for the G5! :)

I voted for a PowerMac. Since I got my iBook, I have decided that switching is a great idea, and instead of spending $$ on a new PC, I would like to get a Mac desktop.

I have a dual 867, which works just fine for now, and perhaps for another year or so.
What I really need is a new laptop.
This old G3 PowerBook is too slow.
Was gonna buy the new iBook, but changed my mind.
Now whatever next PowerBook that comes out, I'll throw my money in it.
Preferably a 15" one...
I'm going to hold off buying anything this year, since I'll be going to college next fall.
I plan on buying the best Apple laptop offering around that time.
[I am going to buy a 15GB iPod this summer though.]

None in particular. I was hoping to be able to choose 970 but i guess thats not a specific apple product. Since I have my 1Ghz TiBook, I'm not chomping at the bit for new updates. I sure was before November though!

Am I the only one waiting to hear if the 23" Cinema Displays will go down in price? My 17" is getting crowded!

I definitely want to have a 23" Cinema Display also, think it will be a great combo for my new Power Mac G5. Another update or lower price would be great. It would be nice if they would have some kind of bundle package!
I currently have a 17" CRT.

Oh I am definitely interested in spending money on my next computer. Right now I have about $1,600  to spend. :D
So I am thinking I will go for the 'faster' powermac, or cube (if possible).

I would like to see 970
G4 -- with lower die specs -- 2 GHZ
Gobi G3 -- (where is this gonna fit?)
Maybe PowerMac -- 970
iMac -- G4
iBook -- Gobi?
I dunno, speculation.

i voted for the PowerBook, i'm especially waiting for the 15". but if the PowerBooks don't get the 970, then i'll be eagerly looking at the PowerMacs to see how the 970 goes.
