Force Window to stay on top

was half watching planet earth on dvd player. wanted to do other things as well.
is there anyway to force an app to keep its window on top while it is not active?

I believe WindowShade (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/12243) will do this. It uses APE however, which many people do not like because it can be incompatible with other programs.
