I am attempting to install OS 9.2.1 update (downloaded) While checking the disk, the program says the hard drive is write protected, there may be security app running and it cannot install the update. How do I disable write protection? I have disabled all Norton apps, and still no-go. This is OS 9.1 on a Powerbook G3 Wallstreet 250 MHz, Any suggestions would be appreciated 😕

It sounds like a firmware security feature (i may be wrong).

Have you recently acquired the computer? If so the previous owner may have set a firmware password to not allow anyone to overwrite the disk.

Sounds a bit iffy to me. 😕
