Hi there,

I want to get an idea on what brands/types of USB 2.0 hard drives that work well with the new Airport Extreme Base Station. I am also interested in finding out if the USB 2.0 drivers are self powered/bus powered (power from AEBS)/or connected through a powered USB hub (if so what type).

This may help people like me that had a very bad experience mounting drives and also help new users in picking the right hardware.

TIA

I'm using these two:

Western Digital 250GB USB 2.0/Firewire External Hard Drive (WDXB2500JBRNN (http://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-Firewire-External-WDXB2500JBRNN/dp/B0001NA3S0))
Seagate Technologies 250GB USB 2.0/Firewire External Hard Drive (ST3200823A-RK (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822154403))

Both are self-powered and connected thru a pretty generic USB hub. I'll get the actual hub make when I'm home.

I've had no problems with either of them.

MR Readers, To be a useful reference, we will need to know the model number of the drive and what enclosure it is in.
