There are two 17" G4 powerbooks in the refurb section, and I was thinking of picking one up. What is the difference between the two? It says one has DDR333 SDRAM and the other is DDR2 PC2-4200 SDRAM. what is the difference? Which one to get?

The only reason I would spend that on an older powerbook and not a new intel, is that all of my pro apps need to be used natively, and I don't plan to upgrade to CS3 anytime soon. I also use flash, final cut and shake, so new versions could get pricey! Plus rosetta doesn't support Final cut.

Thanks

Don

Get the one with DDR2 it's just faster plain and simple.

A 17" PowerBook G4 is still a fine computer so buy it. You will still like it.

I would pay the extra 100 for the scrolling trackpad alone. The ddr2 ram is actually cheaper right now as well. 1gb for 70 on newegg!

the one with DDR2 has a higher resolution screen, for one thing.

Do I need to purchase RAM from Newegg that states specifically it's for a Mac, or can I just order any notebook DDR2 PC2-4200 RAM?
