Files Disappear!

Hey,
Recently after I've finishing downloading something or saving a word file to desktop the file icon doesn't appear on the desktop. I have to search it on spotlight and open it and then the icon reappears. Can anybody help me?
 
Look for a file named com.apple.finder.plist in your Preferences folder (use Spotlight) and drag it to the Trash (don't empty), then restart. 🙂
 
Thanks m8 it worked! Just out of interest do you know what happened? So I can avoid having this problem again.
 
As far as I know, it's just a random bug in OSX and is pretty unavoidable. I haven't found it to be linked to anything yet. The good news is it's easily fixed and deleting the Finder preference file is usually quite harmless. 🙂
