SEE BELOW for information on parts from this machine! Thanks!
------------------------------------------------------------------------
We replaced a couple PM's (I think they are Digital Audio models) at work recently and while I have repurposed one of them, there's another one sitting around and they would like to know what they are worth. The machine is a G4 400mhz, 384mb RAM (2 modules, should be 2 empty slots), 10gb HDD, DVD drive. It also has all the hardware and software for Media 100, a video editing suite for OS 9. Not sure if there is any OSX support for Media 100. Machines are in good shape, everything was in daily production use up until a couple months ago. They're likely to sell it if they can get a buyer and an OK price, but have no idea what they're worth.
For the record, it's a non-profit organization, so you should feel guilty if you low-ball us. :p :D ;)

I'd say don't get your hopes up for much over 150-200. If the seller is looking specific, then maybe you might be able to fetch more. All depends on demand and condition of the unit.
BTW, that unit is eather a Sawtooth G4 (AGP Graphics) or a Gigabit Ethernet model.

i would say u would be looking at the 150 range as far as price goes anyway

If the HDD is the OEM unit, it is a Sawtooth, since the smallest OEM HDD in the GE models was 20GB :)
As for price, I bought an excellent-conditioned QS/867/1GB/Superdrive/Tiger/Stock Apple KB & mouse in Nov for $300, so I would agree that ~$100-150 shipped would be about right for a lesser-equipped ST......

Where did you find that? I've been looking for a decent MDD under 400 around my area, but they never show up, an an 867 with 1GB RAM is a steal at 300, especially with a SD. My 500MHz DP is beginning to show it's age (it too has 1GB RAM, but the beginnings of the clock speed limitations on programs is getting to me BIG-TIME.)

Actually I got it in the marketplace here :p
I was in the same situation as you, with an aging Sawtooth DP450 & alot of beachballing. However, since I parted it out for around $285, my net cost for the QS was only a few $$ = me 1 happy camper 4 sure :D
Unfortunately, MDD's are currently going for quite a bit more than QS's, usually in the $600-800 range :(

OK, I looked into it and it's a Sawtooth. Told them how much it was worth and they offered it to me for a really good price to save the hassle. So, I took it and I'm going to keep the case and PSU for a Mac mini mod project and part out the rest. Everything works well.
Parts as follows (all prices include shipping and are OBO):
1x Sawtooth G4 AGP Logic Board - $45
1x G4 400mhz CPU with heatsink - $25
1x 10gb HDD - Free with other purchase!
1x 256mb PC100 SDRAM module - $25
1x 128mb PC100 SDRAM module - $15
1x ATI Rage 128 Pro AGP 16mb, DVI and VGA out - $25
1x ATI Rage 128 PCI 16mb, VGA out - $20
1x IDE DVD drive - Free with other purchase!
1x old style Apple keyboard, and mayhaps a puck mouse - Make offer?
1x Media Pro 100 hardware kit - it's a video editing system for OS9 that has some hardware encoding boards, etc. I can try to dig up some specs and whatnot if anyone is interested. - Make offer?

PC100 RAM isn't worth much, as PC133 is back-compatible but PC100 can't go into a PC133 needy computer. Asking $15, $25 isn't really worth it... personally, I'd ask $5+postage stamp for the envelope to ship it in.
I'm sure CanadaRAM can fill you in more on the value of old RAM vs. time... but... anyway.

Prices were all based on eBay searches (http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?cgiurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Fws%2F&fkr=1&from=R8&satitle=mac+pc100+sdram&category0=&submitSearch=Search) I did just now. I think the fact they are known to work in a G4 PowerMac makes them worth a little more since those machine were a bit picky about what sort of RAM they had.

Good points. I didn't bother to look at eBay, just made up numbers based on some RAM I've come into contact with... never used a Sawtooth Mac, but keep in mind that other Macs may not be as picky. Although I guess I was a bit too cynical with my $5 for a stick of RAM now that I re-read it... sorry. Good luck with it and the other bits.

No problem... I wasn't sure what any of it was worth so I just checked a few recently completed auctions on eBay and went from there. I'm open to (reasonable) offers, of course; the posted prices are just starting points. :)
I remember from the days when I just started using Macs (again - hadn't had one between my Classic and an iBook G4) that most of the G4 PowerMacs had pretty picky logic boards when it came to RAM, so that's my only guess why the prices look like they do.

In case anyone wants to see them, here's pics of all the parts. Note that the CPU is still on the logic board in the photo (heat sink is off tho), but that can easily be removed if someone wants one and not the other. Everything is photoed on top of the anti-static bag I packed it in right after removal. Please feel free to ask any questions. :)

There's a little shorty IDE cable in one of these pics; I pulled it out as I won't need it, but if anyone needs a little dinky IDE cable for some reason (all the spare parts ones I have are 6-12" long, dunno about you guys) I'll throw it in with any other purchase.
Also, the little silver box with long cord is the modem plug that goes with the logic board.

I may be interested in the CDROM drive. The one in our G4 is dead. :D

I'm going to put this stuff on eBay tomorrow night if I don't have any interest here... I'd rather avoid eBay so if you have any offers, please make them! :D
