Yes, I recorded it when it was first on.
Wish it was on DVD though.
If only I had a superdrive and video inputs on this thing...
I'd recommend any Apple fan to see it... :)

I don't have a VCR anymore...so I'll have to wait until it comes out on DVD someday...but then I'm definitely going to watch it.
On second note, I have some friends that have a VCR...

I'd love to see it, but I don't think there's any way to get hold of it over here in the UK... what with PAL and NTSC video formats and so on.

It was really a revealing movie with Woz saying during a recentinterview (http://www.sunspot.net/technology/custom/pluggedin/bal-mac060503,0,7125240.column?coll=bal-business-indepth) with the sunspot.net that he was suprised that (most) of the events that were in the movie happened(although not that exactly, but it happened). :) I can't wait for the second interview!!! :D

Actually, Steve Wozniak said in a recent interview that Steve Jobs was indeed just like that.

Saw it awhile ago... I still can't get over Anthony Michael Hall not being a geeky kid anymore. He is forever "Rusty".
I would by the DVD in a split millisecond, if it would come out with audio commentary with Jobs, Woz, and Gates. Heh, would never happen but it would be fun as hell.

I own it on VHS. As a teacher and proper Mac evangelist, I showed it to my Music Fundamentals class. The kids in the class were surprised by the events that took place in the movie, but not really motivated enough to do anything about it. When we had some time to play with ITMS, well, that might eventually generate a switch or two. I'm trying. The kids think I work for Apple. I tell them I'm just trying to make the world a better place....
In fact, every single computer in my entire school district is on the dark side - until now. I actually managed to get someone of importance to listen to a logical argument that went something like this:
me: why do you use Dells in the computer lab?
them: well, when students graduate, we want them to be experienced on the platform they will most likely encounter.
me: oh. In that case, for those same reasons, I would like a Mac lab in the music department.
them: [insert every comment from the "what's the dumbest thing a PC user ever asked you" forum]
me: actually, [refute every comment, then demonstrate the simplicity and elegance of our side by actually plugging my simple iBook into the school network and going online]
them: yes, but you only have less than four thousand dollars to spend. What will you do with only one computer?
me: umm, yeah [currently running a simple lab of 4 old school iMacs and an eMac, all wirelessly connected to our school network with airport].
I'm trying....

Because of this thread, I had to go out and rent it. It's something I've been wanting to see, but every time I got to the video store, I'd never think of it. So, on a mission, I went and I rented.

I saw it when TNT first aired it, I think i taped it too. I don't remember it being too enlightening though - kinda confirmed what I already knew/thought about SJ, Woz, BG and SB.

I also would like to see it on DVD. You never know, for a special DVD project they might just be willing to be interviewed!

Its unfortunate they got a lot of little details wrong in that movie.
Yes, Steve Jobs is a boorish a-hole. No one should think otherwise no matter how many Stevenotes you attend (except that one where Steve tossed a non-working camera as he walked off stage).
The scene where the Steves get hassled by a copy who finds their blue box was slightly skewed. I forget what part was wrong, I think they had sold that van before then (maybe?).
And no, Apple didn't "steal" anything from Xerox. Xerox got a bunch of Apple stock in exchange for seeing what Xerox was doing at a time that Apple was already working on a GUI for the Lisa/Mac.
The first Mac (not Lisa) was lightyears beyond what Xerox was doing, primarily because Xerox PARC had no pressure to actually ship anything nor were they "wild-eyed" hackers who would implement an idea the second they thought of it. Still PARC created laser printer, a GUI computer w/mouse and worked on Ethernet. Most people would never know PARC did anything without silly movies like this.
The scene where SJ drops acid and sees himself in a field is wrong. IIRC he dropped acid *in* a field. At least according to an older book I have on SJ.
And they never really covered how Steve Lived later on in life. His homes have always been very very stark with next to no furniture at all. Several girlfriends couldn't live like that and left him.
This helps to explain his preference for very sleek, clean, minimalist hardware designs (and product names apparently). You shouldn't need a ten alphanumeric character product name like most PeeCees, you just need "iMac" or "iBook" and that's it in SJ's world.
And lastly that tagline at the very end was meant to convey that Microsoft now "owns" Apple, even if only a "part" which is technically accurate, but ultimately meaningless (just more FUD). I know what the point of that part was, but without explanation of the details it is misleading to the average viewer i.e. MS actually OWNS Apple (many PeeCee people truly believe this).
In fact MS bought non-voting shares of Apple and got a cross-license agreement for various MS/Apple tech. Plus some annoying lawsuit was settled quietly. MS once again benefitted more than anyone else in the deal. I doubt if MS even owns any of those Apple shares anymore. Big whoop. A few more revs of Office may have helped the Mac survive, but Apple should have already been working on a "Safari" for office apps then, not now when MS is really going to take their toys and go home.
Anyway...
Its a nice fictionalized account of the early days of Apple and that's all it is.

I thought that Steve showed some incidents of paranoia. Did anyone else notice that or is it just a matter of his being a genius?

While I haven't seen the movie, I have seen a documentary on the incident at PARC Xerox hands also read a book about it. from what I understand, and the people at PARC were certainly reasonable professional computer developers, and they were proud of what they developed. They pleaded with the management of Xerox not to allow the people from Apple to see the G U I. while it may be technically true that Apple did not steal the GUI from Xerox, effectively they did. The developers at PARC knitted that was what Apple is going to, and they knew that the management of Xerox did not understand the significance of the GUI. Otherwise, Xerox very likely would not have allowed Apple access to their GUI.
Also while it is true that Apple Tookes the idea from Xerox and ran with it, ultimately developing a much better interface, with Xerox started with truly is the foundation of the modern operating systems that we use. Had Xerox been a little more careful with their technology, they could've been the masters of the computer revolution.
