Hi everyone.

I have what I guess is called a G4 iMac (the kind with the telescoping monitor and half circle base) and I've been having trouble running videos from iTunes without them stuttering. I have upgraded the RAM to the maximum, which is 768 MB's, but I notice that the video RAM on the installed graphics card is only a paltry 32 MB's.

Is there any way to upgrade this card? I've tried looking around the web, but everything seems to be for the G5 level iMac these days. Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read this and hopefully responding.

Cheers.

Only in the sense that they are all upgradeable if you follow the Apple's preferred method...

1. Sell machine

2. Buy new one

Stuttering videos rarely have anything to do with the video card. Its more likely a processor that just can't keep up. What speed is your G4 iMac? 700-800mhz i'm assuming?

No you can't-the GPU is soldered to the logic board.

Ah, that's too bad. I really appreciate the help, though.

Guess I'll have to think about getting a new Mac one of these days.

Cubehacker - it's 800mhz, yeah. I guess I didn't consider that the processor wouldn't be fast enough...
