DVD Recorders and my iMac

I'm thinking about purchasing a DVD Recorder for my TV. I was wandering if I record shows off of that onto a DVD-RAM disc can I then import them into iMovie, edit, and then record them back onto a DVD-R using iDVD?

iMac Specs:
800MHZ G4
80GB Hard Drive
768MB RAM
SuperDrive

Just make sure that your set top DVD recorder has DV out (firewire) so it can connect to your iMac. I guess another thing to check into is whether or not iMovie supports that model DVD recorder, but if it has DV connector on it, it should work fine.

AFAIK you can't use DVD-RAM in an iMac (read or write).
