I just downloaded the Awaken app and I'm going to test it out starting tomorrow. I'll be waking up to Ave Maria but that's the only thing I can think of right now. I'll probably try Good Morning Good Morning by The Beatles. Anyone have any suggestions? List your favs!

Any kind of heavy metal. Necrophagist maybe? Maybe some Human Abstract if you're feeling melodic.

Songs to wake up to (tomorrow):

The Boomtown Rats:
"I don't like Mondays"

Or for a more upbeat tune-
The Dead Kennedy's "Drug Me"

"No Brains" By Sum 41 seems to wake me up pretty well, especially at a high volume. :]

Any soft music works because we sleep in rhythms and gentle music helps to ease us out of bed. Just as we drift to sleep, we drift to a waking state. It's true.

My advice for good wake up songs would be the same for any good sleeping music. :)

The Dreamer (Alto Flute) by Michael Hoppe & Tim Wheater is a good album.

If that doesn't get you to wake up, perhaps John Tesh's cover of "Because You Loved Me" from his Forever More - Greatest Hits will motivate you to get out of bed. Make sure it's put on loud and across the room.:p

Nothing too energetic and startling. I wake up every morning to Mumtaz (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?playlistId=120199877&s=143444&i=120199769) by the Bombay Dub Orchestra as it is really mellow and wakes me nice and gently.

Great album by the way. I recommend that you check it out.

Not to just quote High Fidelity or anything, but "Walkin' on Sunshine" by Katrina and Waves or "Little Latin Lupe Lu" by the Righteous Brothers. Great songs to wake up to :)

Something really annoying always gets me out of bed, but it has to be excruciatingly annoying, or else I'm like, "whatever" and fall back asleep (it's happened).

It might not work for you, but I made a mix CD called "...And Then the Sun Rose," which seems to work well for me. You can get a full track list at my website's Mix CD Archive page (http://www.killmoms.com/?page_id=14).

O Fortuna - Carmina Burana

Nothing like like the build up of this piece to wake you up in the AM.

I can't believe no one has suggested "Good Morning" by the Beatles from Sgt. Pepper's. Great as an alarm clock but not really motivational with lines like like "everyone you know is half asleep" and "Going to work, don't want to go, ..." But it's upbeat and loud.

The Beatles seem like they are winning. I was going to say "Good Day Sunshine".

it's important, for me, at least, to pick a decent enough song- not one that's annoying.
Because invariably, when I'm not fully awake, the song that wakes me up gets stuck in my head, and I sing it to myself all day long.

current favorite wake up song for me has to be Flaming Lips, Are You A Hypnotist??

The last thing you want is sing the Macarena all day. People will be very puzzled.

I personally like to wake up to Nessun Dorma from Puccini's Turandot. Sounds great, and if you know what the lyrics mean, it fits even better ;)

I like waking up to Time by Pink Floyd. Parabol(a) by Tool works well also.

Giant Steps by John Coltrane
Syeeda's Song Flute, also by John Coltrane (I prefer the alternate take, it has a better bass line, which is a big deal to me; I am a bassist myself)
All Blues by Miles Davis
Violin Concerto No. 22 A Minor by Giovanni Battista Viotti (I love Itzhak Perlman's recording), especially the 3rd movement, which is an allegro
Fantasie Sonnambula by Giovanni Bottesini (I like the Gary Karr recording)
