My HD is 120 GB. It says I have used 101, but when I count all my data it only is 45 GB. So I'd like to recover all this missing space. Trying to use Norton Systemworks doesnt work, because I dont have the OS9 drivers installed on the drive as I never use OS9.

Repairing the permissions and disk with disk utility didn't work either.

Can I install the OS9 drivers without wiping my drive and starting over?

Thanks!

Are you sure You are counting correctly?

I have reformated some fairly full, very fragmented boxes that have been sitting at >90% full for months with Multi gig files copied and others deleted to make room constantly and never had this problem to any noticeable extent.

You can simply copy OS 9 system folder from a similar machine and most times it is pretty happy about it.

Or you can back up the whole machine, reformat and reinstall and it should recover any missing space.

yeah-
just pop in an os9 cd and install. no formatting needed.

a better idea may be to burn a 9 system folder to a cd with systemworks on it and boot from that.

my guess is that you missed something... maybe hidden files... but i have never heard of your data doubling in size.
