My girlfriend want a new computer she has a 12" powerbook, but for some reason doesn't want a macbook (why, "everyone has them" wow.) Anyway, I know that intel is going to be lower there prices on the quad cores (266$ for the lowest model yay!) and I was wondering if she should get one now or towards the end of the summer time, will there be any changes, that she should wait for, I know the new OS will be out, but do you think that it will be out by then? Thanks!!

May would be the earliest time for an update and there wouldn't be another revision until next year.

Well if you want to consider this (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=289059) thread / rumor to have truth... then wait.

Santa Rosa could possibly be incorporated into an iMac.

Ok, so you are saying that instead of a MacBook, she wants an iMac? I don't think we will see quad core in the next revision... perhaps by the time penryn is out (maybe later) we can realistically expect quad core in consumer desktops. I still don't see why she doesn't want a MacBook, everyone having one (which is not true anyway) is not a very good reason. I think she should wait for the whole line of Apple computers to be revamped, and then she should rethink weather or not she wants a desktop. But don't get your hopes up for quad core.

Gilo is a possible mobile quad core. Clovertown hits 50W TDP already.

Why do you have to post in everybody's thread that you have had a bad experience?? If you don't like Macs, then why do you hang out in a Mac forum??

I agree with the macbook, I'm not trying to get one, I have explained it to her 1000 times and she still doesn't want it, I figured that the quad cores wouldn't be for a while (I hope to make a new PC with one though sometime) She says she will keep her laptop until june, Ill give he my old desktop till the end of summer, so waiting is never a bad thing, Ill repost then to make sure nothing else is coming out, Thanks
