I wouldn't say I'm a big ukulele music fan, but I was very impressed by this performance of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" by Jake Shimabukuro. Maybe you will be too.

He explains one of his techniques here (http://ukuleledisco.com/jakestrum).

That is awesome!
The ukulele is an often overlooked instrument. In Hawaii it is huge ( so I hear ). Thanks for sharing this Doc !

Saved onto my system.
It was a bit slow at first, but then became incredible. Amazing skill.

It was a bit slow at first, but then became incredible. Amazing skill.Slow? I prefer the slower stuffs overall. And while I can't speak for ukulele (never played it), I feel like sometimes the slower stuff requires a lot more skill to pull off well than the fast.
Thanks for sharing that, Doctor Q. Now I'm terribly tempted to get a CD or two of his. :o

I've never played a ukulele either, although I've tried to play my grandmother's mandolin and I gave this baby (http://picnic.ciao.com/it/1318997.jpg) a test run. :)
I'm much better at air guitar. :o

I think I saw this clip about a year ago.
If you like this type of music (fast, rhythmic guitar solos) you might enjoy Armik. [US iTS link] (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?id=80203235&s=143441). Check out Gypsy Flame for an example of his quick-fingered performances.

Looks like he is coming to the LA area in June Doctor Q, the Coach House on the 13th and the Key Club on the 14th. Here are the tour dates (http://www.allaccesstoday.com/tourhq/tourshow.php?function=showtours&siteID=78). I might have to go check it out.

That's the one I'd like to go to! :)
Mrs. Q and I were in Fukuoka just before the Apple Store opened there, so we obviously need to head back to Kyushu and check it out. I'll charge the trip to my "research" expense account and bill arn for it.
