I am on my second LaCie Big Extreme 1TB Drive and my Macs can't see it via USB.
Here is what happens...
Mounts fine via Firewire 400 on MB CD and iMac Intel C2D
Mounts fine via USB on my Airport Extreme
When I hook it up to USB on the Macs, the drives spin up to speed, but the USB in System Profiler and Disk Utility (booted from system or system CD) don't see it at all. Obviously, despite the sounds, it never mounts. Removing the USB cable is also a good way to get a Kernel Panic.
This is the second one of these drives in a row to do this. The Macs are both running 10.4.9
