Well, it wasn't last year so it probably won't be this year but you never know. It seems that if they're going to be releasing new hardware (if, in fact they are) they would want to stream it. I bet they're going to put up a panther preview page like they did for Jaguar...if they're going to do that than why not just stream the event? Well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed but not getting my hopes up. I guess I'll be at work anyway so it won't matter but I would love to watch it when I get off work at 5...after using a crappy celeron PC all day I could use some of that famous reality distortion field! :D

C-Net streamed (not live) the video of the "Death of OS 9", I'll never forget the church setting, the organs, the coffin, OS 9.

I'd bet money it will be streamed.

You can't use "last year" as an example, because "last year" nothing major was announced at the WWDC. This year the WWDC is MWSF2, basically replacing MWNY (don't get me started on CREATE).

I bet it will be streamed and I'm really hoping that Apple Store's with the neat screens in back will show a live feed.

If Apple does announce a stream, they'll do it sometime next week. Probably not any sooner.

Ok your jumping to conclusions
WWDC is a developers conference not mWSF2 , much like everyone else I hope there will be big developments and new hardware at WWDC but i'm not coutning on it.

maybe hopefully it will be announced for a stream next week. i don't see why not. a lot of people will want to see it.
were others on the past streamed? and if so, how many? and were there big releases?

thanks:)

The conference is a venue to focus on Devlopers. I think the people of the Mac community are getting extra excited over something that will lead to dissappointment.
If apple wanted to have a MWSF like keynote, it would be apparent. They would have made big mention of it, sold more tickets- afterall the revenue for WWDC is Apple's unliek MW events.
The past WWDC I have attened have had rather technical and at times boring keynotes. Now, of course, we will see Panther, and that is special, and some serious questions will beg to be answered, but for new hardware think SPECIAL EVENT with streaming, not DEVELOEPRS CONFERENCE. Since they delayed it they could have renamed it as well. They did not.
I think we are starting to see a 'new Apple' with faster announcements and not tied to big events. I woudl not be surpirsed if DURING the conference they hosted a special event, in Cupertino or nearby. But I suspect Apple wants the dev conference to remain a developers showcase. If they announce 970's then WWDC BECOMES MWNY by default which they want to egt away from.

You're better off logging into the Macrumors chat the day of WWDC and the updates be done for you by people doing the real-time reporting.

I remember eyelikeart talking about his first usage of IRC for Macrumors for one of the expos (I can't remember which one), and Macrumors.com had to be shut down. He said it was hard to keep up with the conversations because they went by fast.

Question is if it is not streamed, will the Apple Stores carry a satellite feed?

WWDC is not really aimed at the average cosumer market and obviously at the developer.

Apple HQs around the world will probably get a satellite feed but that would only be open to Apple PR people or other local Apple staff.

either way i won't be able to see it unless if it's streamed online:( i'll be getting home at noon on that day, just in time for it to start:) i know it's aimed at developers, but aren't we all developers at heart?:p also, doesn't it cost a lot to go and a whole bunch of other stuff?

sheesh first of all wwdc is a developer event and it's not meant for the average Mac user. Therefore it will probably not be streamed. It's probably going to be very technical and dull and most people won't want to hear Steve going on and on about the tech aspects of Panther. Also, since everyone going to WWDC will probably be an Apple Developer Connection member, they don't have to worry about saying anything about insider stuff since the attendees all signed nondisclosure agreements, but if they stream it live then Steve will have to be very careful about what he says.
Second of all, it does cost a lot of money to go  but since Apple said that an airport network will be there for wwdc attendees to use, if i go to the keynote, i'll be sure to be in the MRChat telling you guys what's happening :)

I'm willing to bet money that Apple will at the very least Satellite stream the keynote to Apple Retail Stores (with video screens). I still won't be surprised if (when) Apple announces a live QuickTime stream sometime next week.

Sure, the conference is for developers, but the keynote is for everyone. Even if Apple didn't release a single new piece of hardware, they'll stream the keynote because of Panther. They've built the entire keynote around the new Panther details, just like MWNY02 was built around Jaguar.

Think about it. It makes sense.

wrong in what way? nobody said it'll happen for sure and they're from reliable sources that can be wrong. Plus it's not like Macrumors is 100% sure that there's gonna be a streaming broadcast at Apple Stores, let alone a live webcast.

people have called stores and asked them if they're going to be showing it, and gotten "yes" answers.

so... it's about 98%

I am betting that there will be about 970 Mac Heads in the IRC channel for when the 970 is announced! :)
