My understanding is that the way to get around the region issues reliably is to get an external DVD that ignores regions altogether. Is that right?
If that is right, what are the recommended DVD units that will absolutely not raise region issues for me so that I can read both US and UK DVDs?
Is there another way around this? I have a C2D iMac and C2D MBP (very recent).

Might not be very satisfactory for you, but I set my external drive to region 1 and my internal to region 2, and use whichever is appropriate.

Doesn't the OS and/or software DVD player suffer from the same region restrictions as the hardware DVD player, i.e it can be chaged 5 times before locking? I know this used to be the case with Windows XP, though I must admit I am very cautious with "other region" DVDs in my mac.
