Wanted to buy a Wii since after Christmas, still no stock in the UK to be seen.

Nintendo, what the hell are you doing? don't tell me you can't make enough of them!

Anyway, fed up waiting so bought PS3 instead. Setting it up this weekend.:)

It's not really Nintendo's loss. Anyone who has waited as long a you have will probably end up buying one on impulse as soon as the killer apps arrive, especially if the PS3 hits a slight software lull.

Nintendo has created more units of Wiis than Sony has of PS3s. There is just a high demand for Wiis right now. Look on Ebay; they are going for 400 US dollars compared to the retail 250.

It's not Nintendo's fault that demand is so high, so don't blame them.

And the PS3s suck. They are super expensive; the new version of the xbox 360 coming out is still cheaper than it. And there are no good games out on the system unless you like playing crap.

Just so you know, I haven't seen a single Wii in any Canadian store since the 2006 launch either.

Someone tried to convince me that Wiis were doing horribly in sales when in fact they are outselling all the other next generation systems.

I got to a store that had them 2 hours prior to my arrival. They were sold out before they could get them out of the shipping boxes. I was sooooo close to getting one!!

Lots of people say, "It's just Gamecube x 2, it should be so easy to make!" Well, Wii sales to date (in 4 1/2 months) are approx. one-fourth of GC sales total, throughout that console's history (six years or so?) So it's not like Nintendo had lots of spare capacity, past or present, for cranking out consoles like present Wii demand requires.

The best way is to stand outside of a Brick-and-Mortar store when it opens on Sunday. Typically, stores open later on Sunday, and depending on your location, a good proportion of the population is going to church, while you're out trying to get a game console!

I got mine if early January this way. I only had to arrive 1 hour before Circuit City opened and there were 15 people in line already, with a total of 25 consoles. They let us in early, 5 at a time, to get the consoles and accessories. I had my Wii and Zelda 30 minutes later.

Eh, you aren't missing much, my Wii has a thin layer of dust on it.

Plus the Wii is cheap enough to start saving up for one now and have enough money for when they are more easily available.

Yes, it's Nintendo's loss, because tons of other people are buying them, so you can't get one...

Agreed, in a while the Wii should be great but for now....eh...

It's funny to read posts like this because it makes is apparent that a lot of people out there have absolutely no idea how the business world works. If Nintendo is producing to capacity (which it would not make any business sense what-so-ever if they were not) then it is impossible for them to make more units, short of building new factories or out-sourcing to other companies for them to build.

Either way, both options take time. Simply put, they can not meet demand for the system. It is a great problem for Nintendo. Sony should be so lucky to have this problem, instead of having their units on shelves world-wide for the convenience of their customers randomly walking into a store in order to pick one up.

That's good advice. Just save up and get one later. :)

Good luck finding a Wii, though. Over in console war we're discussing supply issues lately.

I had to get my Wii off Ebay, but it's also gathering a bit of dust. More games please.

Casino Royale does not make sense. Lots of faulty logic.

I think a better title for this thread would be "Sony's loss".

It's a pity that the Wii you were going to buy will never be sold to someone else.
