My laptop is quickly dying. I would love to get a ibook or powerbook, but my wife needs to connect over our network to a PC with remote desktop. Now if I could afford a macbook I could run bootcamp and use remote desktop that way. Is there anything out there that I can use or am I stuck getting a crappy Dell or Toshiba laptop?

CoRD (http://cord.sourceforge.net/) is a better option IMO, it's a Universal Binary, it's lighter weight, and it can connect to more than one computer at a time.

Does anyone know what the MAC specs are for either program? If I end up getting an ibook I believe it had OS 10.3 installed on it. Will either of these programs run on Tiger?

Web sites for software will always list their requirements. Right on the front page for CoRD:
"Note: this release requires Mac OS X 10.4."
Looks like you're out of luck there. On Microsoft's site:
"Operating system: Mac OS X version 10.2.8 or later"
Looks like you'll have to use MS's solution.
