Would Much Appreciate Some Help

I am looking for a song for my mother but she is really unable to give me much information to google. Basically the only way I think I'm going to find it is if someone else recognizes the description.

The songs lyrics consist of each verse being like a letter to a different guy, starting Dear John, Dear etc... She can't remember really any of the names specifically. She thought the song was by Alanis Morissette, probably not though but something similar. So female, supposedly happy, but a little melancholy. I thought I hit home when I read the lyrics for Narcissus by Alanis Morissette but that apparently wasn't it, and just to quell the thought now, it's probably not anything called "Dear John".

Any help you could give to point me in the right direction would be much appreciated.

Looking through her list of songs, is it "Unsent" by Alanis Morrisette?

Yes that was it. Thank you so much. My mother told me she had gone through all the Alanis songs, but she had never even heard of the album unsent is on. (I actually had it already).
