I have a mybook, and it is currently fortmatted in FAT32, but this means that i can't see it over a network or search for it in google desktop.

So how would i go about formatting it into HFS+?

I believe you should be able to do it using Disk Utility. Open Disk Utility and click on the drive in the list on the left, then click on the 'Erase Tab' and choose Mac OS X Extended. At least that is how I seem to recall doing something similar.

Yes, this can be done using Disk Utility. It is the Mac OS X Extended (Journaled) option you need to choose.
