For months and months I've been using both Safari and Mail and have set both to remember all my passwords.

Now, everytime I restart either, no passwords are remembered. Mail asks for a password for each of my five accounts either time I open the program and occasionally when it's just checking mail. Safari does a similar thing.

It's getting REALLY annoying. Anyone have a tip or two on where to look?

Keychain Access found in the utilities folder.

I recently had such a problem, real pain. Tried using the inbuilt repair function, repair permissions etc. etc., but for me nothing worked. In the end I copied over my keychains from a backup. Everything was sorted.

Figured...

I think I figured it out. I recently renewed by .Mac account and synced it. My keychain was part of that sync and it apparently screwed all of that up.

Anyone know how to RESET .mac completely?

You can also use 1Passwd http://1passwd.com/ (at least for your browsers). I REALLY prefer AI Roboform, but it's Windows-only, dammit!

Unfortunately, 1Passwd doesn't handle Mail.

A FIX (for me)

Everything was working fine and "all of a sudden" Safari, Mail, etc would stop remembering passwords.

After some research I found that it was my use of monolingual (a program that rips out different language packs from applications to save space) ALSO rips out the certificate the all Apple programs are now signed with which f's up the keychain access working.

A quick trip to Time Machine and I restored some of the applications.

Works like a charm.

HTH.
