OK, this might be a dumb question, but for the life of me I can't figure it out. I want to create an icon on my desktop that, when I click it, opens a new mail message addressed to my best friend. The "quick mail" applescript that comes with os x can do this, sort of, but it opens the script editor and I have to hit "play." How can I make the script executable and put it on my desktop? Am I even approaching this the right way?

Yeah I did this a while ago, and I have a solution for you, I hope.

Open up the script in the editor then go to File/Save As/

Select the format as Application and tick "Never show start up screen". Click save, and it *should* work.
