I'm looking to upgrade the RAM on my Macbook. I know I need DDR2 PC2-5300, but I was just told by some tech guy at an online store that Macbooks can only use RAM that is CAS Latency 5.

Is this true, or is this guy an idiot?

If you get RAM approved for your MacBook, you wouldn't need to worry whatsoever. Just get the proper MacBook RAM from many of the online dealers that regularly sell to Mac users, and you really don't need to worry about CAS latency.
