New AppleTv's?

I think creating tiers of Apple TV's might be a good idea but I can't really see how they would differentiate them. They could offer bigger HDs, but it is a streaming device so I don't know why they would do that. They could offer 5.1/Dolby Digital/Whatever, but there still really seems to be no solid answer about that on the current one (as in, maybe if Quicktime could do it then Apple TV's hardware could support it.. or pass it thru... etc etc). I guess they could put in an optical drive as well in a higher end model.
I would like to see them just create add-ons. Specifically Blu Ray and/or HD DVD add-ons. The unit is already really small, make another unit the exact same size, throw it a BluRay drive and sell it as an add-on. They could do the same for a PVR (though I still don't seem them doing that in any situation). It would end up with a little mini stack of add-ons. I guess you could end up with a bunch of them but I can't really think of that many add-on features that they could come up with.

I think it would be interesting to see different modles too but I would be pissed if they came out with a higher end unit so fast.

I think making the add-on units would be a smart idea. That way not EVERYONE has to pay for the extra features, and they also don't sacrifice the sleekness factor.. might also attract some of the movie gurus if they can start stacking features (ie: the HD/Blu Ray [I forget which Apple has sided with], a second, bigger hard drive, maybe just a normal dvd player).

I could also see them offering a "premium" version, which could offer a bigger HD, 1080p support, 5.1... so on and so on. Some of those features just don't matter to some people, whereas for others they're deal breakers. Offer two units and stackable features, and they'd really be in business. hehe

As best I can tell, 5.1 support should a software issue. If they don't simply update mine with that capability, but offer another model, it'll be the last time I buy a first generation Apple product.
